For many years Cameo have had the pleasure of attending and photographing the long service awards of the Dorchester Hotel in London, and this year was no different. Beginning with a red carpet entrance, the long serving members of staff are given with VIP treatment, and each given a certificate during an awards ceremony to thank them for their service. We were particularly happy with the lighting this year, using camera flash bounced off the ceiling on manual mode to create a consistent colour balance and flattering lighting for the group shots. It’s a photographers prerogative to make decisions about the lighting on the spot; and on an occasion such as this where photos are likely to be printed, it’s well worth including less of the atmospheric lighting present at the event in favour of superior print quality.
